I CAN SEE Vlad’s delicious body across the club, tucked into a dark corner table by the bar with Maddox, Ren and Allura. I could pick him out of any crowd even without the bond. His presence draws the attention of quite a few people around him, their hungry eyes roaming over him.

If anyone approaches him, I will leap over this railing and hurt them.

A growl vibrates in my chest and Carlos chuckles next to me. “You’re each as bad as the other.”

“We’re mate bonded,” I huff before I realize what I’ve just said. I look up to Carlos’ shocked expression.

“That’s… interesting.”

“Blame Allura,” I mutter, taking another sip of my drink.

Carlos shakes with silent laughter. “Even if Allura didn’t break magic a little bit, you two were bound to end up with each other.”

I frown, looking back into his brown eyes. “Why do you say that?”

“You two move with each other like you’re one, an effortless give and take of energy. Plus, both of you are loyal to the bone, way too protective of the people you care about and stubborn as hell.”

Before I can even process anything he has said, his eyes flick up to something behind me and he stiffens slightly. “Noble is here.”

I clear my throat and sit straighter, taking a healthy mouthful of the champagne in my glass. Noble’s rotund, vile presence looms at the edge of our booth. His eyes slide down my body, focusing on my exposed legs, and he licks his lips. His candied lemon scent curls around me and I try not to gag as I give him a clipped smile.

“Noble,” Carlos croons, sweeping his arm toward the booth, “please sit. Thanks for coming.”

“When I heard you two were wanting to get out from under Vladislav’s thumb,” he says as he sits down, thankfully next to Carlos, “I couldn’t resist.”

I just nod and smile, having no idea what lies Carlos spun to get Noble to sit down with us.

Carlos hooks an arm around my shoulder again, his sugared almond scent masking Noble’s putrid scent. “When this one came into the picture, I knew she was the one and it was time to get out.”

“From Vladislav’s reaction,” Noble muses, tapping a finger on his thin lips, “I thought he may have laid claim on her.”

“Wrong vampire,” I say, placing my free hand on Carlos’ thigh, “Vladislav is just a stickler for his rules.”

Noble answering smile turns my stomach. “Good,” he purrs, “I know Carlos doesn’t mind sharing.” If we didn’t need information from this creep, I’d inflict a lot of violence on him, but I restrain myself.

Carlos chuckles. “Before we make any decisions, we need to know your business benefits us.”

Noble moves his attention to Carlos, and he dips his chin. “What you would you like to know?”

“How does it work?” I ask before Carlos can.

Noble leans forward pouring himself a champagne. “I’d supply the product, and you’ll deal it out of Vladislav’s clubs, and Sanctuary,” he takes a sip of his drink, making a satisfied sound before his eyes return to Carlos, “your cut will be substantial.
